online voter registration here in california has brought 600,000 new voters to this election alone. most of them are democrats, they're young. the different thing about them is that they are much less likely to vote along party lines. according to the secretary of state, as of the october 22nd deadline, 18 million voters were registered. overall, new voters account for about 1.6 million of them. and a large majority are under 35 years old. again, half are democrats. 19% republicans and the rest just other. now, what we may notice today is that specifically beyond the presidential race, those might not vote along party lines. they tend to vote for the president and then leave other parts of the balt blank or just pick and choose as they go. for instance, just because many voters may support president obama, that may not translate into support for support for proposition 30, governor brown's tax measure to support school. right now we're at a polling place in oakland where governor brown is expected to come here and vote around 7:15 this morning. reporting live in oakland, christie sm
